In YouGov’s international survey this year, PM Narendra ranked 8th on the list of the world’s top 20 most admired man. The prime minister is ahead of Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Virat Kohli.

Former US President Barack Obama has retained the top position on the chart as the world’s most admired man in 2021 for the second year in a row. Bill Gates has now shifted to the second position, followed by Chinese President Xi Jinping on third. Others in the list include football legend Christiano Ronaldo, action star Jackie Chan, tech genius Elon Musk, football sensation Lionel Messi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese businessman Jack Ma in the remaining top 10 positions.

According to YouGov, this year’s study surveyed more than 42,000 people in 38 countries and territories to compile the list. The poll was conducted online in countries that constitute more than seven-tenths of the world’s population.

Michelle Obama likewise holds on to her position as the world’s most admired woman for the third consecutive year. Pakistani human rights ac Malala Youtivist safzai and actor Priyanka Chopra have made it to the top 10 in the ranks this year, climbing five places to 9th and 10th respectively.

Back in November, PM Modi had topped the ‘Global Leader Approval Tracker’ released by American research firm Morning Consult, with the biggest percentage of ratings. As per the data released by the firm, Narendra Modi was ranked the most approved leader in the world with a score of 70 per cent, closely followed by Mexico President López Obrador on 65 per cent and Italy Prime Minister Mario Draghi with 58 per cent.
